Laid-off journalist Lana Lewis is thriving as the proprietor of Perkatory, a coffee shop on quirky Devil’s Beach island, Florida. But there are plenty of other candidates as well: Gus’s soon-to-be ex-wife, Honey Bailey, who thinks she’ll be written out of his will; Mickey Dotson and Doug Beck, who were scalded financially after purchasing a pirate-themed tourist cruise business from Gus; and plenty of angry neighbors who’ve had run-ins with him.

As the clock ticks down will Lana get someone to spill the beans on the killer so she can clear her friend’s name, or will Erica go to jail for a crime she didn’t commit?

Author Tara Lush offers a fun-to-read cozy mystery series, set in fictional Devil’s Beach, Florida, with delightfully offbeat amateur sleuth Lana Lewis. Lana is smart, geeky and hilariously funny, with quips that made me laugh out loud. Her coffee shop, cleverly called Perkatory, makes me wish the bistro was real so that I could order an espresso during a visit. Lana’s sweet romance with police chief Noah Garcia keeps me coming back to these stories, though I rarely review more than book one in a series. Like a coffee lover, I’m hooked.

Though Live and Let Grind is the third cozy mystery set on Devil’s Beach, it can be read as a stand-alone. Be warned; you’ll probably want to go back and read the first two entertaining and well-written installments. Highly recommended for lite-fare mystery fans.
